Sage & Sunflower Pâté: A Grounding Fall Snack
As the days grow shorter and the air turns crisp, our bodies naturally shift toward foods that feel warming, substantial, and deeply nourishing.
I’m so excited to share this Sage & Sunflower Pâté, created in collaboration with The Herbal Vixen Co. and their beautiful Forged; By Vixen: The Autumn Edit. This recipe is shared with a desire to capture the essence of autumn with ingredients that support both body and mind.

Why This Pâté Feels Like Fall
In holistic nutrition, we pay attention to what’s in season because seasonal foods often provide exactly what our bodies need at that time of year, and, of course, it just tastes better when it's fresh.
Sage is a classic fall herb for good reason. Beyond its earthy, piney flavor, it has a long history of use for:
Supporting the nervous system and easing mental fatigue
Aiding digestion as we transition into heavier, heartier meals by stimulating bile flow and reducing bloating
Providing antioxidant and antimicrobial compounds
Paired with sunflower seeds, this pâté becomes a nutrient-dense, grain-free spread that’s rich in healthy fats, plant protein, and minerals like magnesium to support muscle relaxation, sleep quality, and stress resilience.
Add in grated potato for moisture without binders, complex carbohydrates for balanced blood sugar, plus fibre and potassium to support hydration and muscle function.
The Role of Sage-Infused Oil
This recipe gets its depth from sage-infused olive oil created by The Herbal Vixen Co..
Infusing oil with sage gently extracts essential oils, antioxidants, and other actives without high heat that can degrade delicate constituents. The result is an oil that delivers both flavor and therapeutic benefits in one versitile ingredient.
Using infused oils is a practical way to bring herbalism into everyday cooking without needing to be an expert.

The Intention Behind Seasonal Eating
Choosing seasonal ingredients is about alignment with nature, beyond just basic nutrition.
In fall, our bodies naturally crave more warmth, density, and sustenance. Sage, sunflower seeds, and potato each bring qualities that match this shift. Eating this way helps you feel balanced, supported, and in rhythm with the season.
